dc.description.abstractnewline The pulses have been grown in India from ancient period. It has a very good proteins and newlinenutritional value, as pulses are import crop as contributing share in income of the farmers in newlineTelangana state, so need was felt to examine socio-economic profile, economics of pulses newlineproduction, price spread, cost of processing and constraints in production, marketing and newlineprocessing of pulses. The study was based on the farm level data collected by survey method newlinefrom 145 pulses cultivating farmers spread in the narva, utkoor and damaragidda blocks of newlinethe district of mahabubnagar, in order to track the marketing channel a sample of 10 per cent newlinecommission agents, traders, wholesalers and retailers at major Agricultural Marketing newlineCommittees (AMCs) of the respective crops and one dal mill were selected from newlineMhabubnagar district of Telangana state. Combination of purposive and random sampling newlinetechniques was used for selection of district, blocks, markets, market functionaries and newlinefarmers required for the study. The data used in this study to fulfill various objectives were newlinecollected through personal interview of selected farmers and marketing intermediaries with newlinethe help of pre-tested structured schedules designed in the light of set for the objectives. The newlinedata collected was subjected to various analytical tools apart from tabular presentation newlinetechniques and descriptive analysis, simple averages, percentage, cost concepts, regression newlineanalysis, measurement of cost concepts for production and processing, marketing costs, newlinemargins, efficiency, producer s share in consumer rupee and price spread using S. S. Acharya newlineand N. L. Agarwal s Method and Garrett s Ranking Technique to analyse constraints in newlineproduction, processing and marketing of selected pulses were also used.The study showed newlinethat majority of the respondents were literate at high school level, medium family size, newlineagriculture as main occupation, belonged to middle age, small landholdings, medium farming newlineexperience, medium annual income and good contact with exte
