In present days, aluminium based materials have emergent applications and adopted as work material that assures high-class performances, due to its better and improved properties. Automobile and aerospace components manufacturers are having biggest challenges in materials development point of view, especially in weight of materials and strength to weight ratio which are very much helpful in decreasing the consumption of fuel and reduction of pollution. Various manufacturing industries as aforementioned needs components which possess high capacity of load carrying, exceptional combination of high strength and hardness, resistance for corrosion, and wear, ability for machining, welding and casting/forging. Therefore there is a necessity to accomplish the demand of extensive applications of those materials with better and improved characteristics. Aluminium is one of the most important materials due to its exceptional characteristics such as improved strength, low density, durability and considerably lower in cost while comparing with other materials. newlineMechanical properties of aluminium can be strengthened by alloying the constituents like copper, magnesium, manganese, silicon and zinc. Aluminium alloys have high strength to weight ratio, better wear resistance, corrosion resistance, low thermal expansion, good casting characteristics, high thermal conductivity and better weldability, which makes it potential materials for numerous application in aerospace, marine, automobile, electronics and other industries. Aluminium alloys are classified into wrought and cast alloys, which are further categorized into heat treatable and non-heat treatable alloys newline
