dc.description.abstractThe term Buddhist Monastery or Vihara has been used in different Pal literature by newlinesignifying various meanings associated with the spiritual activities of monks and nuns. newlineBuddhist monastic system of education has enormous contribution in modern education as it newlineis largely unified with the modern education system and that is why the scope of Buddhist newlineeducation is too vast. India and its enlarged Northern part, though at present are separate newlinestates, Nepal and Bhutan are the founding origin of Buddhism. After reviewing a number of newlinerelated studies on Buddhist Monastic Education, the researcher found that no such study has newlineyet been conducted on in Buddhist Monastery-based Education covering the adjacent areas of newlineIndia, Nepal and Bhutan in integrated way and that s why the researcher decided to select newlinethebordering areas of India, Nepal and Bhutan as his study area and to take up the matter newlinerelated to existing educational practices in Buddhist Monasteries of the mentioned area as his newlineresearch problem. The objectives of the research were to analyze, investigate, evaluate and newlinecompare the aims and objectives, system, structureand organizational pattern, issues and prospects newlineof Buddhist Monastic Education in India, Nepal, and Bhutan and also to develop an ideal newlinemodel relating to the improvement of Indian system of Buddhist Monastery-based Education. newlineResearch questions were formulated on the basis of selected objectives. The present newlineinvestigator delimited the study in prevailing system and structure of Buddhist Monastic newlineEducation at the Monasteries of the adjacent areas of India, Nepal and Bhutan and the newline contemporary period he denoted here after the year of 2000. newline
