Trend Growth and Changes in Land Use and cropping pattern of different agro climatic regios of madhya pradesh

Abstract

The land-utilization pattern of a nation at any point of time is determined by the physical, economic, and institutional framework taken together. In other words, the existing land-utilization pattern has evolved as the result of the action and interaction of various factors such as the physical characteristics of land, the institutional framework, the structure of other resources such as capital, labour, etc. (Virender kumar et al., 2002). In order to evolve an agricultural planning strategy for a region, it is quite essential to know the type of crops grown, the area having less or more concentration of a crop, and the different associations found in different areas of the region. The present study was undertaken to analyze the trend, growth, and changes in land use and cropping pattern of different agro-climatic regions of Madhya Pradesh. The study was based on both primary and secondary data. Secondary data pertains to various land-use parameters and cropping pattern was collected for the period of 20 years (2000-01-2019-20) while, primary data was collected with the help of a well-structured interview schedule for the year 2009-10 and 2015-16 from the 150 farmers of selected five districts pertaining to various crop zones of the state. Absolute change, relative change, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, simple growth rate, and exponential growth function were used to analyse the data.
