Abstract
The present study aims to understand the pathogenesis of Preeclampsia at the
newlinemolecular level, in the context of transcriptional and post-transcriptional gene
newlineregulation and also to study the microscopic anatomical difference occurring in PE,
newlineas a part of a compensatory mechanism.
newline2.2 Objectives of the Study
newlineIn view of the above background, the following objectives have been undertaken to
newlineevaluate the key cellular and molecular events involved in the pathogenesis of
newlinepreeclampsia.
newline1. To investigate the gross anatomical features and microscopic anatomical
newlinealterations in placental tissue of late-onset preeclampsia with respect to healthy
newlinetissue using light microscopy.
newline2. To understand the underlying molecular mechanisms operating at the
newlinetranscriptional level, in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia, by studying the expression
newlineprofile of Visfatin gene.
newline3. To understand the underlying molecular mechanisms operating at the
newlinetranscriptional level, in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia, by studying the expression
newlineprofile of HO-1 gene.
newline4. To study the expression pattern of mi R 200, operating at post- transcriptional
newlineregulation of gene expression, in preeclampsia pathogenesis.
