Study on soil isolates of fusarium of murshidabad district west bengal

Abstract

Murshidabad is the district of agricultural importance. It is situated on the Gangetic plain newlineof the state of West Bengal. Owing to its advantageous geographical location, this district newlineis of prime focus to the agriculturalists since long. Our work stemmed from the facts that newlinethe climatic conditions and edaphic factors of the district were highly conducive to the newlinegrowth of agricultural crops. After having chosen Murshidabad district as the study area, newlinethe Fusarium was selected as the model fungus on account of its occurrence in primarily newlinein agricultural soil and also due to a number of its unexplored traits. The present work has newlinethe following objectives: newline1. Isolation, identification and characterization of the Fusarium spp. recovered from newlinedifferent agricultural soil samples across the Murshidabad district newline2. Evaluation and characterization of the nonpathogenic Fusarium isolates with newlinerespect to various plant growth promoting traits newline3. Screening and estimation of heavy metal tolerance potential among Fusarium newlineisolates, with special reference to PGPF activities under metal stressed conditions newline
