Composition and Characteristics of Milk in Different Breeds of Cow in Dindigul District Tamilnadu in India

Abstract

Milk is a fluid secreted by the mammary glands of mammals to feed their young ones. It is a good source of nutrients and hence important for growth, repair of body tissues and provides immediate energy. The colostrums of cow consist of many biological active substances and antibiotic substances than raw milk. The present research was carried out for a period of two years from 2016 to 2018, in the cattles like Kangeyam, Jersey, Red Sindhi and Holstein Friesian, common in Dindigul district, TamilNadu, in India, 420 Kangeyam, 194 Sindhi cows, 327 Jersey and 264 Holstein Friesian cow were chosen for this study. During the period of study total 1205 of observed were used. 50 ml of milk sample was collected from the experimental animals in sterilized milk bottles without any preservatives. The experiment was carried out during winter, post monsoon season, monsoon season and summer season, different ages and different lactation stages for each and every ten months of duration. newline
