Rupture is a term associated to fracture. Rupture is one of the most notable phenomena that newlinedominates failure mode in manufacturing method. In metal forming procedures, rupture is newlinevital to predict for avoiding failure of material. To determine the prediction, basic mechanical newlinetests are needed to perform. Nowadays, numerical validation is generally used to assess newlinerupture in manufacturing process. In this thesis, the work has been done on prediction of newlinerupture during tensile and shear tests of widely used material i.e., SS304 stainless steel sheet. newlineThe strain histories up to rupture during tensile test experiments was recorded by means of newlineextensometer and digital image correlation (DIC) arrangement. The numerical simulation was newlinedone on the base of investigational results obtained from the tensile tests. Four macroscopic newlinerupture criteria were used to predict the rupture during numerical simulations. The loaddisplacement curve attained from numerical simulation and experimental results of tensile newlinetest is used to check homogeneity of methodology, which showed good agreement between newlinethem. The critical values of damage factor were estimated using macroscopic criteria, further newlinethese values are used to stop the numerical simulation of shear test. These critical values of newlinedamage factor are unique for each mechanical test, which indicates the onset of rupture. The newlineshear test was simulated using ABAQUS/Standard to look into rupture and compare local newlinestrains with DIC studies. To study the properties of the stress state on plasticity and shear newlinerupture, a sample based on ASTM B831 was created. Based on the results, the most suitable newline
