Abstract
A blockchain is a secured, shared, and distributed ledger that facilitates the process of
newlinerecording and tracking resources without the need for a centralised, trusted authority. It allows
newlinetwo parties to communicate and exchange resources in a peer-to-peer network where
newlinedistributed decisions are made by the majority rather than by a single centralised authority.
newlineDistributed ledger technologies in blockchain systems have in recent years emerged as
newlinepromising platforms for machine-to-machine commerce applications. At the time of writing,
newlinethe blockchain ledger required very high memory, nearly 395 gigabytes of permission-less
newlinesystem. So, any accepted activity by any participant will likely lead to an increase in ledger
newlinesize. On the other hand, permissioned systems assume that ledgers can only be replicated within
newlineclosed groups of known participants. This may lead to ledgers being smaller, but could also
newlinemean that many ledgers are maintained at the same time. To overcome these drawbacks, the
newlineproposed method is developed in this work for reducing ledger size in blockchain systems
newlinebased on Energy Efficient Optimal Transaction Selection and Elimination (EEOTSE). The
newlineEEOTSE approach minimises energy use and maximises the efficiency of the blockchain
newlineframework. Furthermore, several attacks, such as the 51% attack, double-spend, and selfish
newlinemining attack, affect block chain security. To prevent these attacks, the proposed method is
newlineintroduced in this work, named the BLCMAShield Approach. BLCMAShield provides high
newlinesecurity with lower execution time than the other existing approaches. Attack detection rate,
newlineerror rate, execution time, and energy consumption are used for analysing the performance of
newlineBLCMAShield and EEOTSE. In addition, this research has adopted anomaly detection on
newlineblockchain using the support vector machine(ABOSVM) method to detect and prevent threats
newlinein each transaction in distributed ledgers. The experimental results show that the
newlineBLCMAShield, EEOTSE, and ABOSVM provide the best results compared to existing
newlineapproaches.
