Abstract
The major challenge for a developing country like India is large and diverse population of students and insufficient number of qualified teachers as well as lack of infrastructure to provide quality education. However, Distance learning mode has shown capability to address these concerns. Distance learning itself is drastically changed with the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) As a result, new field called Electronic learning or E-learning came into existence. E-learning can provide better facilities to the tutor like interactive contents, access from anywhere at anytime and minimize time delay in communication. European Commission and the E-learning Action Plan define E-learning as, the use of new multimedia technologies and the Internet to improve the quality of learning by facilitating access to resources and services as well as remote exchanges and collaboration . Even though a lot of progress has taken place in Distance Learning Environment (DLE), but interactivity is still the major concern in this field.......
