Abstract
Navigation system could be defined as a system to determine the vehicle
newlineposition for providing manoeuvre instructions to its user. Navigation system
newlineis extensively used for location identification and route finding process
newlinebetween two geographical areas. Present GNSS based navigation system
newlinemeets the requirement of maximum users but still faces some challenges
newlinedue to the existence of positioning error, time and space trade off and proprietary
newlinespatial database. These positional errors occur when GPS receivers
newlineare unable to provide GPS fix due to signals abeyance. Positional accuracy
newlineof navigation systems can be achieved by improving the performance of
newlinemap matching algorithms. Challenges associated with proprietary data can
newlinebe overcome by the use of crowd sourced spatial data. The crowd sourced
newlinemaps such as OpenStreetMap being non proprietary data source produces
newlinehuge spatial data, with less effort and developer would work on the devising
newlinemethod to use the data rather than collecting the data. In this research
newlinewe designed a prototype of the navigation system that will give much effective
newlinegeographic positioning, augmented user interface and reduced space/
newlinetime complexity. In this study we disseminated the quality issue associated
newlinewith the navigation system. These quality issues can be due to spatial data,
newlinepositional components and other components of the navigation system. The
newlineperformance issue associated with positional interface also evaluated by the
newlinemap matching algorithm and to overcome these issues we proposed GiMM
newline(Genetic induced map Matching) algorithm to enhance the performance of
newlinemap matching algorithms. Further to enhance the navigation system experience,
newlinean augment interface is introduced in the system. In brief, we developed
newlinean algorithm for a navigation system that provides an augmented
newlineuser interface with crowd sourced data in a low GPS signal environment.
