Abstract
newline The thesis is devoted to the study the influence of MgO, CaO and Sro on emission features of Er3+andNd3+ ions in Li2O Sb2O3 glass system.
newlineThe clear objectives of the present study are to prepare, characterize and
newlineand#61623; To investigate the luminescence properties of Er3+ and Nd3+ ions in lithium antimonate glasses mixed with MgO, CaO and SrO and to explore the improvement of luminescence efficiency of the dopant rare earth ions.
newlineThe following studies have been undertaken:
newlinei. Optical absorption and photoluminescence in the UV, visible and NIR regions
newlineii. Infrared spectra of all these glasses in the region 400 to 2000 cm 1
newlineFor the sake of convenience, the thesis is divided into five chapters.
newlineChapter I presents the General Introduction, Scope, Contents and the objective of the present work. In this chapter, the basic theory related to spectroscopic and other related properties of Li2Oand#8722;Sb2O3: Er2O3/Nd2O3 glasses mixed with MgO, CaO and SrO is presented systematically.
newlineChapter II gives the description of experimental methods employed in the preparation and characterization ofLi2Oand#8722;Sb2O3: Er2O3/Nd2O3 glasses mixed with MgO, CaO and SrO. The details of the apparatus used and the techniques adopted for recording optical absorption, photoluminescence, decay profiles, Raman and IR spectra are described in detail in this chapter.
newlineIn Chapter III influence of three interesting oxides viz., MgO, CaO and SrO on 1.06 and#61549;m emission features of Er3+ ions in Li2Oand#8210;Sb2O3 glass system has

newlinebeen investigated. Eventually, the prepared glasses with adequate rare earth ions (Er3+) concentration may be used to generate strong green emission. The spectroscopic analysis for Er3+ ions fixed in Sb2O3 Li2Oand#8210;MO (MgO, CaO and SrO) glasses indicated that all the beneficial resources intended for optical amplifiers besides wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) arrangements at 1.54 and#956;m.
newlineChapter IV is devoted to the studies on luminescence characteristics of Nd3+ ions in Li2Oand#8210;Sb2O3 glasses mixed with MgO, CaO and SrO.
