Structural Behaviour of Double Skinned Hollow Tubular Columns Infilled with Sustainable Geopolymer Concrete

Abstract

The Geopolymer Concrete used in this project is the most promising technique to newlinereduce the emission of CO2. But many studies on the Geopolymer concrete shows that the setting of concrete is achieved by heating curing. To overcome this situation, replacing the Ground blast furnace slag with fly ash for various proportions was studied to achieve geopolymer concrete suitable for ambient curing. Based on the results of characteristic strength and durability of the concrete, the optimum level of replacement of GGBS was found to be 25%. newlineThe concrete filled Double skinned Tubular Columns has been considered as a better newlinesolution for high story buildings, bridges and parking areas because of its notable combination of steel and concrete properties. This experimental research intends to study the behaviour of Double Skinned Hollow Concrete filled Tubular column in filled with Geopolymer concrete subjected to axial compression load. The behaviour of CFDST columns includes deflection character, failure mode, strength and ductility were evaluated for three test series CFDST with GPC and CC, Thickness of plates, Slenderness Ratio. newlineBy comparing the experimental results of CFDST columns with codes such as Eurocode 4, ACI318-95, Australian Standards 3600-1995, AISC-LRFD the results were found newlineto be 12% less in Eurocode 4, 20 % less in ACIandAS code and 29% less in AISC-LRFD code. newlineBased on the suggestion, a modification constant factor was included in ACI code for newlinedesigning of economical and high structural performance CFDST columns in future. The finite element analysis ANSYS version 17.2 was used to analyse the CFDST columns and the comparison of ANSYS results with the experimental results and failure mode was done. The results obtained from an ANSYS were in sync to the data obtained experimentally. This Investigation will help in design of eco-friendly heavily loaded column, which is much, a headed in present scenario. In addition, it helps to formulate the Indian Code on Geopolymer concrete in filled Double Skinned Hollow Tubula
