Abstract
In the modern manufacturing systems there are two opposing
newlinetechniques in the tool industry namely dry and high speed machining In
newlinethese more heat is produced than in normal machining necessitating high hot
newlinehardness To have good heat isolation between the chip and tool body special
newlinesurface modifications of the tool materials are required Composite coating is
newlineone of the surface modification techniques which enable to produce the
newlinedesired properties of a tool material
newlineComposite electroplating has been identified to be a simple and cost
newlineeffective technique for the preparation of such kind of composites Electro
newlinecomposites offer unique synergistic properties which can not be obtained by
newlineany single metallic coating They enhance the wear resistance and hardness
newlineof the base metal on the surface thus offering increased life
