Software testing is one of the tools used to ascertain the quality of software as newlinesoftware quality is achieved by testing to verify its correctness, performance and newlinescalability according to its specification. There are several software metrics identified newlineas part of the overall testing activity in order to track and measure the entire testing newlineprocess. These software metrics are collected at each phase of the testing life cycle / newlineSDLC and analyzed and appropriate process improvements are determined and newlineimplemented as a result of these software metrics that are constantly collected and newlineevaluated as a parallel activity together with testing both for manual and automated newlinetesting irrespective of the type of application. The software metrics can be broadly newlineclassified into the following two categories such as: Procedure Oriented and Object newlineOriented (OO) metrics under which the later has become more popular in the present newlinedecades because of its salient feature called modularity which is the driving force for newlinereusability, maintainability, testability and understandability. Low coupling in OO newlinesoftware module is desirable since it does not necessitate the changes in other newlinemodules when one module is changed. Thus, measurement of low coupling in OO newlinemodule is indispensable for quality assessment. There are two types of couplings in newlineobject oriented programming namely, subclass and temporal coupling and there is no newlinesoftware metrics found to measure the level of types of OO couplings in software newlinemodules. This thesis attempts to propose two different OO software metrics for newlinemeasuring the types of OO couplings in software modules so as to predict the newlinemaintenance effort. newline
