iesel engines are the most noticeable power sources for many applications like power generation transportation agriculture and so on since they possess superior thermal efficiency and durability Diesel fuel depletion and emission are the major problems of diesel engines The obtainability of fossil fuel may drop in another twenty years The dangerous emissions of diesel engines include oxides of nitrogen and smoke Combustion participates significantly in controlling depletion and emissions The availability of oxygen improves the thermal efficiency combustion efficiency and emissions of an engine Oxygen enrichment is a method of introducing oxygen alongwith the intake air It has the advantage to obtain more rapid burn velocity and enhances combustibility The air fuel ratio is maintained almost similar to stoichiometry ratio Oxygen enrichment is used to control smoke and it improves thermal efficiency As the engine works in the elevated load condition oxygen enrichment reduces unexpected losses in power output The search for alternative fuel started twenty years back and a number of researchers have found the suitability of biodiesel and alcohols for diesel engines. newline
