newline Abstract
newlineWith the increase in the pollution levels worldwide, the countries are
newlineworking towards the reduction of factors which are causing climate change and
newlineglobal warming. Auto-mobiles are being considered as one of the major factors
newlinecontributing towards the rise in air pollution, In metro cities like Delhi, the air has
newlinebecome unbreathable which is reducing the life span of people and causing several
newlinehealth complications for them. In addition to this energy security has become a
newlinemajor concern for the countries across the globe and price of the fossil fuels like
newlinepetrol and diesel are increasing day by day. So in order to reduce the vehicular
newlineemissions, gain energy security and combat with the rising prices of fossil fuels
newlinecountries across the globe are working towards the electrification of auto-mobiles
newlineand pushing the electric mobility to meet the sustainable development goals.
newlineGovernment of India is also pushing electric mobility through various schemes and
newlineproviding financial incentives both to the manufacturers and consumers for the
newlineadoption of electric vehicles. Despite the continuous efforts of the government, the
newlineelectric vehicle adoption is very less in India. The study focusses on the factors
newlineaffecting the Electric Vehicle Adoption in India and the impact of government
newlineschemes on it. The survey for the study was conducted in Delhi and NCR. The data
newlinewas collected online and analysed through PLS-SEM. The results of the study
newlineindicate that the awareness of the people regarding Electric Vehicles is very less in
newlineIndia. Electric Mobility has started gaining momentum in case of two-wheelers and
newlinethree-wheelers but it is very less in case of four-wheelers. The study also indicate
newlinethat the financial incentives provided by the government to purchase electric
newlinevehicles directly impact the purchase intention of the consumers. The responses of
newlinethe study clearly indicate that the electric vehicle adoption in India is dependent on
newlinethe infrastructure availability and feasible battery charging options.
