Abstract

The importance of coordination compounds, playing different roles, in living newlinesystems is well established. The studies on coordination complexes have become a newlinechallenge to the chemist. The coordination complexes which are found in minerals, newlineplants and animals are of great significance because they exhibit important functions. newlineThe synthesis of new organic chelating agents that can coordinate with transition newlinemetal ions has tempted the researchers to synthesize more and more coordinated newlinecompounds. In recent years, this branch of chemistry has gained impetus owing to newlinelarge amount of synthetic work and an extensive theoretical treatment for newlineunderstanding the structure and nature of bonding in coordination compounds. The newlinerapid development in the field of bio-inorganic chemistry is centered on the study of newlinecoordination compounds present in living systems. newlineCoordination chemistry is therefore, one of the vast areas which cover number newlineof applications in the science and technology, viz analytical chemistry, medicinal newlinechemistry, materials science and industrial chemistry. In a real sense, coordination newlinechemistry is an area that comprises many fields, like organo-metallic chemistry, newlinehomogenous catalysis, medicinal, bioinorganic chemistry etc. Development of the newlinecoordination chemistry field involving Schiff base ligand and their transition metal newlinecomplexes is found to be very interesting due to its innumerable applications. newline
