Abstract
Traditionally, training and development was not viewed as an activity that could help
newlinecompanies create value and successfully deals with competitive challenges. Today, that
newlineview has changed. Companies and organisations that use innovative training and
newlinedevelopment practices are likely to report better financial performance than their competitors
newlinethat do not. Training and development also help a company to meets competitive challenges.
newlineCurrent recessionary economic times have resulted in cuts in training and development
newlinebudgets. However, Organisations need to continue to rely on efficient and effective training
newlinepractices to help employees strengthen or increase their skills in order to improve or make
newlinenew products, generate new and innovative ideas, and provide high quality customer services.
newlineAlso, development activities and career management are needed to prepare employees for
newlinemanagerial and leadership positions and to attract, motivate, and retain talented employees
newlineat all levels and in all jobs.
newlineNew technologies such as Web-based training and iPods reduce the costs associated with
newlinebringing employees to a central location for training. At the same time, the challenge is how
newlineto ensure that these training methods include the necessary conditions (practice, feedback,
newlineself-pacing, etc) for learning to occur. Also, through the blending learning approach
newlineorganisation are seeking the best balance between private, self-paced, technology-based
newlinetraining (such as online training), and methods that allow interpersonal interaction among
newlinetrainees (such as classroom instruction or active learning).
newlineThis study will reveal that how employees want to develop career enhancing skills that will
newlinelead to motivated and retention. There is need to focus the research on training and
newlinedevelopment of employees working in hospital. The current research is designed to study
newlineemployees training and development practices which will give idea about current status of
newlinehospital employees.
