Abstract
Power divider is a passive microwave device that divides the given input microwave power into two or more at the output. It is a vital component in phased array antenna system and mobile communication system. Power dividers are available in larger sizes, and for dual and multiple bands of operation. Mobile communication is a recent technology wave all over the world. Lots of technological specifications are being introduced in mobile communication in recent times. With the advancement of technology and promotion of compactness, there is a need for smaller and wide band power divider for wireless communication particularly in mobile communication
newlineapplication. This research study is aimed at proposing the design and implementation of smaller and wide band power divider. The study is framed on the following technical approaches: Basic power divider design is carried out with Taconic RF-35 substrate by taking into account the odd and even mode analyses. The electrical lengths and#952;1 and and#952;2 and, the odd and even mode impedances Z1e, Z1o, Z2e and Z2o are arrived. Then, the isolation resistance R1 and R2 values are calculated. Based on these
newlineanalyses, the objective of the thesis is to obtain a compact and wide band power divided which is obtained in the following manner. Initially, the coupled line is folded (meander) and added with open stubs and DGS. Here three open stubs and six DGS are employed. The size of the power divider is reduced due to the existence of the Meander line. Subsequently, open stub and DGS are used to enhance the bandwidth of asdesigned compact Meander line power divider. Thus, it was observed that the fabricated power divider works between 0.5 and 2.5 GHz.
