Abstract

This work deals with investigations on three phase PFC inverter fed induction motor drive. The simulation of three phase PFC inverter fed induction motor drive was done using Matlab. The proposed induction motor drive employs seven switches and incorporates an active current shaping feature. The boost converter at the input can give the required voltage to inverter and can perform power factor correction. The drive works satisfactorily at low input voltage since the boost converter maintains required voltage. The experimental results are compared with the simulation results. The simulation of three level neutral clamped PWM inverter fed induction motor was also done. The conventional inverter fed induction machine has poor quality of current and voltage, due to the presence of harmonics. Using multilevel inverter harmonic content can be reduced. In symmetrical circuit, the voltage and power increases with the increase in level of the inverter. As power devices have been added in multilevel inverter structure, the voltage waveform has more redundant switching states, so that the switching angle can be chosen for harmonic reduction. The simulation results are compared with the theoretical results. This work also deals with Photo Voltaic Powered Push Pull Converter based Induction Motor drive. The DC output from Photo Voltaic system is stepped up to higher level by using Push Pull type DC to DC Converter. The simulation results and experimental results are compared. iv This work deals with simulation of fuzzy controller based induction motor drive using Matlab-Simulink. This controller is de signed to control the three-level voltage source inverter (VSI) fed induction motor. This type of inverter has several advantages over the classical VSI, such as a greater number of levels in the output voltage waveforms, lower dv/dt, less harmonic distortion in voltage and current waveforms and lower switching frequencies. In the new controller, torque and stator flux errors are used together with the stator flux and angular frequency to generate a reference voltage vector. The proposed fuzzy controller is found to reduce the torque ripple. newline newline newline newline
