Abstract
Nonverbal communication is the exchange of information between two people
newlinewithout using words. The importance given to nonverbal communication has exponentially
newlineincreased in the last 30 years and its significance is proven by many researchers. Kinesics
newlineis a part of nonverbal communication which includes eye contact, gestures, posture, facial
newlineexpression, head movements and the study is dedicated to educating engineering students
newlineabout kinesics.
newlineThe Research is aimed to construct and evaluate the Manual that is meticulously
newlinecreated to enhance the use of body language among the Engineering students. Nonverbal
newlinecommunication is indispensable for the students to thrive in their professional background,
newlineto excel in presentation skills, to shine in interviews etc. Though Nonverbal
newlinecommunication has its significance proven, it is not incorporated in the present
newlineEngineering syllabus leaving a major deficiency in communication of the students
newlinealtogether. To overcome the communication issues of the students, the manual created for
newlinethe study is concentrated on understanding the needs of the students in kinesics and
newlinesupplying them with a strong foundation of the skills. Social Learning theory is deployed
newlinealong with Task Based Language Teaching and Integrated Language Teaching to create the
newlinemanual. Engineering students from an affiliated College of Anna University were selected
newlineto test the manual and they were evaluated based on the rubric prescribed for assessing
newlinetechnical presentation
