| dc.description.abstract | DCD is referred to as a hidden problem and commonly has co-occurring newlineconditions that provoke much debate. Prevalence of DCD was cited to range from 6% to newline8% and 10% of children were identified to be at risk of DCD. Despite its prevalence, newlinehealthcare professionals under-recognized it and the majority of professionals reported a newlineneed for education about the condition. DCD children were affected by their difficulty newlinein executing motor coordination skills and reported to have low self-esteem and newlineperceive themselves as physically and mentally incapable and unfit to participate in newlinephysical activity with age-matched peer-group children. They have a wide range of newlinedysfunctions in executing gross motor skills, and fine motor skills and have associated newlinepsychosocial problems. Persistence of neurological soft signs like hypotonia and failed newlinebalancing skills hinder gross motor development newline | |
