Abstract
Severe postoperative pain is associated with an increased risk for
newlinecomplications, slowing of the rehabilitation process, delayed return to normal
newlinefunctioning, progression to persistent pain states, prolonged length of hospital
newlinestay, elevated rates of readmission, and higher overall costs. Hip fracture
newlineoften have an impaired nutritional status at the time of fracture, which can
newlineresult in a higher complication rate, prolonged rehabilitation time and
newlineincreased mortality (Wyers et al, 2010). Hip fractures in old age frequently
newlinecause impairment in activities of daily living (Goisser et al, 2015).
newlineApproximately 25-30% of hip fracture patients was discharged to long-term
newlinecare facilities and never received appropriate rehabilitation.
newlineNurse`s skills, interventions, attitudes, communication and continuity of
newlinecare and selection of intervention strategies are very essential to take care of
newlinethe orthopedic problems. An effective postoperative care can decrease the
newlinepatient`s pain, discomfort and postoperative complications. Incorporating
newlinecomprehensive care program in care elements can decrease complications
newlineduring hospital stay. Rehabilitation should be included according to need of
newlinethe patient. There is a need for improving knowledge and preventing their
newlinecomplications is very essential. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effectiveness of
newlinecomprehensive care program such as rehabilitative exercise, progressive
newlinemuscle relaxation, education on nutrition and prevention of complication
newlineamong patients with hip surgery in order to improve functional recovery,
newlinereduce pain and improve nutritional status and to reduce the occurrence of
newlinecomplications. In conclusion, Hip fracture is a serious injury and requires immediate
newlinemedical attention. This research work revealed that providing comprehensive
newlinecare program (rehabilitative exercises, progressive muscle relaxation and
newlineeducation on diet and prevention of complication) improves functional
newlinerecovery, nutritional status and decrease the pain and complication.
