Investigation on Effects of Rare Earth Addition on Clads Developed by Microwave Heating

Abstract

Many plastic engineering components or parts of mechanical, defence, automobile newlineand electrical industries are manufactured through injection molding process in which a newlinemelted reinforced polymer is forced through a nozzle into a mold, where its solidifies and newlinecools. Finally, cooled plastic part is ejected and cycle is repeated. Nowadays in newlinecompetitive environment most of the industries are replacing their metal parts into fiberreinforced newlineplastic due to its less weight and save cost. Generally, polymer reinforced with newlineabrasive glass fibres, which acts as hard abrasives for mold cavities and deteriorates the newlinesurface quality of molds and dies lifetime, is short, due to the molding surfaces wear. newlineGlass fibers movement during the injection process leads to scratches on the mold surface newlinecaused by their tips, making them rough enough to decrease the surface brightness of the newlineinjected products. Wear is a common problem encountered in plastic molds, especially in newlinehigh production molds. This problem leads to extra cost for reconditioning operations and newlinenon-productive time with a consequent lack of productivity. newline
