Teaching languages has a long and illustrious history in both theory and practice. Teaching languages is not a recent development. Bilingualism or multilingualism have been widely practiced norms both historically and currently. It also implies that the practicality of language instruction has long been a topic of discussion. The aforementioned may be a significant factor in the changes in language teaching techniques that have been observed in the past, present, and very likely will be noticed in the future. The current trend toward globalization, which is a crucial component of the current century, has had a significant impact on how languages are taught all over the world, including India. Nowadays, the English language is automatically included when we discuss language education because it serves as the global lingua franca. The globalization process that affects educational practice and culture is driven by technology (to transmit knowledge globally) and English (as a worldwide language). As a result, in addition to tracing the historical changes in language instruction, this chapter also emphasizes the current evaluation of language teaching strategies, which has been prompted by the emergence of globalization, technological advancements like the rise of the internet, and the recent spread of the English language throughout the world. newlineThroughout time, language education techniques have embraced change with open arms. It began with teacher-centered teaching strategies and progressively transitioned to learner-focused strategies. Changes in language teaching techniques are a reflection of two key ideas that form the foundation of language teaching pedagogy. First and foremost, language teaching is committed to meeting the needs of the students. It makes adjustments in response to shifts in the types of proficiency that students now require. The first reason is the seed from which the second idea grows.
