Abstract
BACKGROUND
newlineDue to the decrease in partial pressure of oxygen caused by the drop in barometric pressure at
newlinehigh altitude, acute altitude illness, Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), high altitude brain
newlineedema, high altitude pulmonary edema, and pulmonary artery pressure develop. High altitude
newlineexposure has a variety of effects on cognitive processes. Yoga is an effective intervention for a
newlinevariety of ailments, including anxiety, depression, hypertension, diabetes, headaches,
newlinerheumatoid arthritis, and insomnia. Sudarshan kriya Yoga (cyclical breathing practice) is a
newlineYogic technique that improves cardiac autonomic tone and relaxes the mind and body. Yogic
newlinebreathing is an area that has rarely been studied at high altitudes.
newlineAIM AND OBJECTIVES
newlineTo investigate the effect of SKY and Advanced Meditation program techniques in the
newlineacclimatization of lowlanders at high altitude.
newlineTo analyze anthropometric, biochemical, neuro-cognitive and psychological variables
newlineat the baseline and post SKY and Advanced Meditation program techniques

newlinePARTICIPANTS
newlineWe have used pre-collected samples of 352 participants, on an estimate based on previous study
newline(Himashree et al., 2016) (124±17.1) at 99% confidence level (T = 2.58) with relative precision
newlineof 0.02. Considering the possibility of non-response, and in order to achieve more precision
newlineduring the course of study, this sample size was used.
