Banana (Musa spp.) is affected by many diseases. Among them, Fusarium wilt newlinecaused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense (Foc) is one of the major soil borne newlinediseases of banana causing severe yield loss. A roving survey was conducted to assess newlinethe wilt incidence in major banana growing regions of Tamil Nadu. The maximum newlinewilt incidence was recorded on banana cv. Ney Poovan (AB) in Chithar village of newlineErode district (45.00 %) and the least wilt incidence (7.00%) was noticed in Theni newlinedistrict on cv. Grand Naine (AAA). The symptoms appeared as yellowing of older newlineleaves, pseudostem splitting and vascular discoloration of corm. The pathogen newlineassociated with wilt disease was confirmed as Fusarium oxysproum f.sp. cubense newline(Foc) based on morphological characters and molecular characterization. The newlineexistence of genetic diversity among the Foc isolates was recorded using RAPD and newlineISSR analyses. Further, the VCG analysis of Foc isolates from different cultivars newlinewere belonged to VCG 0124 of Foc race1. The volatile organic compounds produced newlinefrom Foc isolates were grouped into inodoratum type. The ten differential proteins newlinewere expressed during host-pathogen interaction on cv. Ney Poovan. newlineThe antagonist bacterial isolates were isolated from rhizosphere regions and newlineconfirmed as Bacillus spp and Pseudomonas spp based on the biochemical and newlinemolecular characterizations. Among the isolates, B. cereus (B18), P. putida (P2) and newlineStreptomyces geyrisensis (S14) recorded maximum inhibition of mycelial growth of newlineFoc and they produced strong siderophore and hydrogen cyanide and possessed newlineantibiotic genes such as Bacillomycin A, Bacillomycin D, Iturin A, Iturin C, surfactin newlinein B. cereus (B18) and DAPG and phenazine in P. putida (P2). newline newline
