Nutrient dynamics and nitrate modelling at Digha Chandipur and Dhamra in Bay of Bengal Odisha

Abstract

The coastal ecosystem has several essential ecological, socio-economical and newlinephysical functions and shows temporal and spatial variations. Planktons contribute newlineabout 15% of the total global oceanic production and transforms nutrients, sediment and newlinegases, derived from land and atmospheric sources. For a stable and productive newlineecosystem the nutrient plays significant role. In the marine ecosystem standard Redfield newlineratio is used as the standard stocheometry reference for nitrate, phosphate and silicate newline(N:Si:P = 16:16:1) concentration. Alteration in such ratio may cause shift in plankton newlinespecies composition, alteration in phytoplankton nutrient level, variation in nutrient
