Synthesis of Clay Based Inorganic Geopolymer and their Characterization in Terms of Adsorption Behavior and Electrical Insulation

Abstract

Geopolymer being an aluminosilicate inorganic polymer, regarded as an newlinealternative binding material to cement in construction industry, due to the similarity in newlinebinding action on Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). The structure of binding network in newlinethese aluminosilicate geopolymeric materials have been reported as alumino silicate newlinehydrate gels with the network modifier of alkali cations or silico alumino phosphate gel, newlinebased on the type of activating solutions used like alkali or acid. Substantial investigations newlinereported on their mechanical strength properties, ceramic properties, environmental newlinefriendliness. With the documented literature on physio chemical, mechanical and textural newlineproperties, these could be expanded to different applications in diversified field that newlineinclude immobilization of heavy metal, demineralization, depollution activity, catalyst, newlinephotocatalyst and electro chemical applications. However, very few research reports are newlineavailable as adsorbent media for the removal of pollutant from the aqueous solution and newlineelectrochemical response. This study focused on low-cost environment friendly adsorbent newlinefor the treatment of wastewater containing dye stuff and exploring their electrochemical newlineresponse, by utilizing robust clay-based geopolymeric composites.
