Abstract
Haemodialysis affects the quality of life of the individual with renal
newlinefailure due to their stress related to long term therapy and modifications
newlineneeded in their life style which needs education about the disease, care of
newlinefistula, compliance to the treatment and management of complications. A single-group pretest and post-test study was conducted among 35
newlineMultiple sclerosis (MS) patients to evaluate the effectiveness of progressive
newlinemuscle relaxation exercises on fatigue and sleep quality in Eastern Turkey.
newlineThe study findings concluded that fatigue scores were observed to have
newlinedecreased after PMRT (p lt0.001). This finding shows that PMRT applied for 5 20-minute for 1 hour is effective in reducing fatigue and promote sleep in
newlinepatients with MS. (Nuray et al, 2012). There are several complementary
newlinetherapies are mushrooming which includes acupuncture, aroma therapy,
newlinehypnosis, massage, natural healing, reflexology, reiki, spiritual healing etc to
newlineimprove the quality of life of patient. But when comparing to the other therapy
newlinePMRT is more effective to promote quality of life of patient undergoing
newlinehaemodialysis.
newline By reaching for the better understanding of the day to day stress and
newlineconcerns of patients, the staff in renal units can promote the quality of life with
newlineappropriate support. Hence renal nursing intervention package was planned
newlinewhich includes the educational intervention and progressive muscle relaxation
newlinetechnique. The improvement in the level of knowledge and stress reduction
newlinecan enhance the quality of life of haemodialysis patients.
