Relationship between Personality Traits Attitude and Awareness towards Environmental Behavior among College Students

Abstract

Humans adversely affect the environment and in order to understand how to deal effectively, the researcher focus on dimension of personality and behaviors associated with it. In the present study investigator studied the relationship of personality traits with attitude, awareness and environmental behavior. Besides it, contribution of Personality Traits, Attitude and Awareness in determination of the Environmental Behavior is also studied. On the sample of 300 students of Agra city out of which 150 were girls and 150 were boys. A Correlational research design was used to investigate the relationship of personality traits, attitude and awareness towards environmental behavior in college students. The relationship between personality traits and environmental behavior revealed that the personality trait honesty- humility was found to be more strongly positively related to environmental behavior. Regression analysis opens up that personality trait Honesty- Humility was the most significant predictor of environmental behavior as compared to other significant predictors. Among other predictor variables Environmental Attitude has the second highest significant positive contribution in the determination of criterion variable (environmental behavior). Environmental awareness has the least contribution in determining environmental behavior. On basis of the findings it may be concluded that there is positive relationship between personality traits and environmental behavior except the personality trait of emotionality. The investigator has probes into the mind of the younger generation so as to know what the significance of environment into their lives is and how much they are passionate towards this issue by examining their personality traits, attitude, awareness and behavior towards environment. newline
