dc.description.abstractThe mosquitoes are the principle vectors of many vector borne diseases (VBDs) prevalent in newlinetropical and subtropical areas of the world. They transmit various illnesses, for example, dengue newlinefever, chikungunya, jungle fever, filariasis, Japanese encephalitis, yellow fever and so on. Thus, newlinecausing mortality of nearly 1 million people specially children across the globe per year. newlineTherefore, efficacious mosquito control assumes a medical importance in India and all over the newlineworld. newlineFor immediate eradication indiscriminate use of artificial insecticides created multifarious issues newlinelike environmental pollution, toxicity to non-target organisms, insecticide resistance and is newlineunsafe to humans. Whereas, plant based herbal insecticides were found more efficient and offer newlinean alternative technique for the most challenging environmental quandaries and could provide newlineenvironmentally safe, cost-efficacious solution because of phytochemicals derived from plant newlineextracts act as effective larvicides, insect growth regulators, repellents. newlineThe aim of this present study is to investigate the impacts of various parts of Lycopersicon newlineesculentum like, stem, tender leaves, matureleaf, fruit and roots, tested against 1st to 4th instar newlinelarvae of Aedes aegypti under the research facility conditions. The tests were directed at room newlinetemperature at different concentrations and mortality was observed for 24, 48 and 72 hours. The newlineresults revealed the highest mortality of crude fruit and matureleaf i.e., 96.4%achieved in 40ppm newlineconcentration level of fruit and mature leaf after 72 hours of exposure in the 1st and 2nd larvae. newlineResult of probit analysis revealed that the lethal concentration LC50 values changed with the newlineexposure periods in bioassay experiment with the plant extract. The results of regression analysis newlineof crude extracts of Lycopersicon esculentum revealed that the mortality rate is positively newlinecorrelated with the concentration of the extracts.
