Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are gaining popularity in industrial and commercial applications, due to efficient wireless communication, and the usage of low-power computing devices. Due to resource-constrained sensor nodes participating in WSNs, designing an energy-efficient security algorithm for WSNs is a widely studied research problem. Nature-inspired secure clustering is one of the potential solutions for this research problem. In the presented work, this phenomenon has been experimented with for better security and energy efficiency in wireless sensor networks. newlineThe presented work has three major contributions viz. In the first study, a novel secure wireless sensor network is proposed to identify and isolate the attacker nodes through fuzzy rules and to establish trustworthy node-to-node data transmission by implementing a modified crow search optimization. Routing is performed by OLSR (Optimized Link State Routing Protocol) and to evaluate the efficiency, a detailed comparative analysis is performed. In the second study, a novel Hybridized Crow Whale Optimization (H-CWO) is implemented to form trust metrics and QoS-based bipartite Coverage Routing (QoS-CR) for effective clustering. Further, the performance of the proposed method is compared with existing methods in and#1113090;erms of nodesand#1113091; energand#1113092;, communication delay, alive nodes present during every iteration (rounds), and throughput values. In the third study, Nature-inspired Decision Support System for secure clustering (NIDSC) is proposed with a detailed procedure for selecting a Cluster Head (CH) using QoS metrics. The proposed Decision Support System is formulated as an optimization problem of clustering for the selection of CH. This optimization problem is solved by a fitness function utilized in the nature-inspired Differential Evolution (DE) to achieve secure and optimal clustering in wireless sensor networks. newlineThe works presented in this thesis attempted to experiment and analyze the role of Nature-inspired methods in securing data tra
