Energy efficient system design in vanet

Abstract

newline Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network (VANET) routing involves the establishment of communication paths between vehicles to facilitate the exchange of information in intelligent transportation systems. Cluster-based routing protocols offer a distinct approach compared to conventional routing protocols. In cluster-based routing, vehicles are organized into clusters, and a cluster head manages communication within the cluster. This approach enhances scalability, reduces communication overhead, and optimizes resource utilization. Benefits include improved network efficiency, reduced contention, and better adaptability to the dynamic nature of vehicular environments. However, challenges in cluster-based VANET routing protocols include cluster formation, dynamic topology management, and robustness to node mobility. Cognitive Radio (CR) VANET routing protocols address these challenges by incorporating spectrum sensing capabilities. CR VANET allows vehicles to dynamically select available spectrum bands, mitigating interference and improving communication reliability. By intelligently adapting to spectrum availability, CR VANET routing protocols optimize cluster formation and enhance overall performance, overcoming limitations faced by conventional cluster-based routing in VANET scenarios. Thus, this research introduced three various contributions for the performance enhancement of VANET routing protocols. The first contribution is the Tri Parametric FUZZY logic (TP-FUZZY) routing protocol, wherein three various factors like data rate, speed and velocity of the vehicle are considered for clustering the vehicles in the network.
