Investigation on Pattern Synthesis from Array Antennas for Modern Radar Applications

Abstract

quotAntenna pattern synthesis is one of the most important problems for newlineall wireless communication and modern radar applications. Shaped newlinebeams are frequently required in space communication, search, newlineground mapping and airport surveillance radars. Most of the works newlineare centred around the pattern synthesis from linear arrays of dipoles, newlinewaveguides and other radiating elements. Moreover, the realized newlinebeams are not optimal in terms of sidelobe levels and beamwidths. newlineAfter intensive survey, it is felt that the optical antenna system using newlineLuneburg lens can be focused properly and if designed optimally, it is newlinepossible to generate useful desired patterns. With this point of view, newlineintensive investigations are made to generate shaped beam patterns.quot newline newline
