Enhancement of Immunity and Disease Control in Common Carp Cyprinus Carpio Challenged with Gram Negative Bacteria Aeromonas Hydrophila Through Spirulina Arthrospira Platensis Supplemented Diet

Abstract

Aquaculture is the most viable industry in the current scenario of fish farming, due to the shortage of natural catch and to limit the over exploitation of the natural resources. With growing demand for fish all over the world, it is pertinent to draw attention on the fish farming techniques and strategies to increase the production of fish. But the industry has been facing problems, owing to the infections caused by bacteria, fungus and viruses. Currently, these diseases are treated by using chemicals such as pesticides, antibiotics and other disinfecting agents. Though these chemicals have solved the problems partially, they are complemented with adverse impact on the host organism as well as the ecosystem. The commercial aquaculture feed contains more proteins than other nutrients that are used for the growth of the aquatic animals only, not to cure the diseases.
