| dc.description.abstract | The dynamic qualities of micelles are combined with the concepts of reversed-phase chromatography to create a sophisticated kind of liquid chromatography known as micellar liquid chromatography (MLC). This method makes use of a mobile phase that contains micelles created by surfactants above their critical micellar concentration (CMC) and a stationary phase that is hydrophobic. The dynamic pseudo-stationary phase produced by micelles in MLC, as opposed to typical reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC), makes it easier to separate analytes according to how they partition between the micellar phase, the aqueous phase, and the stationary phase. In 1980, Armstrong and Henry conducted research on the application of aqueous surfactant solutions in reversed-phase liquid chromatography, which led to the invention of MLC. Compared to traditional RP-HPLC, the production of micelles dramatically changes the interactions between solutes, affecting chromatographic resolution, analysis time, and selectivity. The primary goal of this research project is to create new, quick, easy, and affordable MLC methods for determining pharmaceutical dosage forms. These methods will also be validated in accordance with the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines for use in various laboratory and quality control settings. newline | |
