Role of Training and Development in Enhancing Competencies for Sustainable Employability Among Management Graduates a Study of Selected Management Institutions in Bengaluru

Abstract

The research presented in this thesis examines the role of training and development newlineinterventions in enhancing sustainable employability competencies among management newlinegraduates in India. The study was conducted in ten management institutions, including one newlinestate university, three deemed -to- be- universities, three private universities, and three newlineautonomous institutions offering two-year MBA programs in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. newlineThe research used a mixed-methods approach, including web-based surveys, focus group newlineinterviews, and in-depth interviews, to gather information from MBA students, MBA newlinefaculty, members of training and placement teams, MBA program administrators, and HR newlineprofessionals and recruiting managers. The study identified 24 key sustainable competencies newlineunder six competency clusters that facilitate the sustainable employability of management newlinegraduates in India. The findings suggest that several factors, including enrolment patterns, newlineteaching methods, curriculum design, research culture, administrative patterns, newlineinfrastructure facilities, and industry experience, affect the employability of management newlinegraduates. The study advocates for competency-based management education to bridge the newlineskill gap among management graduates and thereby address the employability gap in newlinemanagement graduates.
