Private universities in India, particularly within the competitive educational hub of Indore City, face intense financial pressures, making financial stability a critical strategic goal. This study analyses the financial strategies and the influence of Financial Performance Indicators (FPIs) on the stability of 217 institutions using a mixed-method approach. Key findings demonstrate that FPIs are significant predictors of health and that stability requires proactive, comprehensive strategy adoption. Crucially, institutions with greater revenue diversification exhibited significantly higher stability (and#946;=1.2, p=0.003). The research concludes that resilience is achieved through a multi-pronged framework that balances short-term cost control with long-term initiatives like endowment building, providing an actionable blueprint for sustainable fiscal health. newlineThe Indian higher education landscape requires private universities to continuously navigate intense market competition, rising operational costs, and fluctuating enrolment figures. In this environment, financial stability defined by robust liquidity, sustained profitability, and adequate solvency is the foundational strategic imperative for maintaining academic quality and ensuring institutional continuity. newlineThe primary objective of this thesis was to systematically analyse and evaluate the strategies employed by private universities in Indore City to bolster their financial standing. Specifically, the research sought to determine the significant relationship between key Financial Performance Indicators (FPIs) (such as liquidity, profitability, and solvency ratios) and overall stability, and to assess the effectiveness of strategic interventions including revenue diversification, cost optimization, and endowment building. A mixed-method approach combined quantitative financial data from a sample of 217 respondents from 5 private universities of Indore with in-depth qualitative case studies to achieve a holistic understanding. newlineThe analysis consistently demonstrated
