The high concentration of arsenic in natural aquatic environment, especially in drinking newlinewater, is a major community health issue owing to its extremely toxic existence and newlinethus, its mitigation is highly important. Chemical and physical methods including newlineoxidation, ion exchange, coagulation and precipitation, membrane separation and newlineadsorption are being extensively exploited for arsenic removal in recent past by various newlineresearchers. Of these methods, adsorption is used mostly owing to its ease of usage, newlineavailability of a broad variety of adsorbents, and flexibility in application. newlineIn recent past, numerous non-conventional cost efficient adsorbents, like natural newlinesubstances, and additional products/residues from manufacturing and agriculture, have newlinebeen proposed by many researchers as efficient adsorbents for arsenic elimination from newlineaquatic system. Recently, biosorption (bio adsorption) has emerged as a promising newlineremoval technique, which utilises biocidal agents to extract arsenic from tainted water. newlineHowever, only a small range of water treatment biosorbents, either alone or after newlinemodification have been studied or investigated to assess their effectiveness in extracting newlinearsenic from water. Hence, in this research, the powdered leaves, stem bark, roots of newlineNeem (Azadirachta indica) was studied as efficient bio-adsorbents for mitigation of newlinearsenate from aquatic environment. newlineContrastingly, among the vast verities of adsorbents present in the market, whether it be newlinenon-conventional or conventional ones, commercial/synthetic adsorbents owing to their newlineincreased surface area, porous frameworks, enhanced surface activity and prominent newlineuptake capacity, have been substantially employed for arsenate mitigation from aquatic newlinesystem. But due to the expensive nature and lack of supply of commercial activated newlinecarbon, attempts to synthesize more cheaply yet efficient adsorbents from a range of newlineindustrial and agricultural by-products are being sought. The uptake capacities of newlineeconomical adsorbents, using industrial and agricultural
