The experiment was conducted at Student Instructional Farm, C.S.Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur during kharif and rabi seasons of 2018-19 and 2019-20. There were eight treatments combinationsi.e., T1:LCC3,T2:LCC4,T3:LCC5,T4:CCM30,T5:CCM35,T6:CCM40,T7:100% RDN as 3 splits (2:1:1) at basal, knee height and tasseling stage and T8: 75%RDN as 3 equal splits at basal, knee height and tasseling stage. The experiment was laid out in RBD with four replication. newlinePlant population of maize recorded at 30 DAS and at harvest showed non-significant difference due to different treatments during individual years as well as inpooledanalysis. newlineThe results shown that at 30 DAS, treatment T7(100% RDN as 3 splits(2:1:1)atbasal,kneeheightandtasselingstage)recordedsignificantlyhigher plant height, number of functional leaves plant-1, dry matterproduction plant-1 and leaf area index but did not differ significantlywith treatment T3 (LCC 5, i.e. application of 30 kg N ha-1 based on LCC critical value5) and T6 (CCM 40, i.e. application of 30 kg N ha-1 based on CCM critical value 40)with respect to all said characters during both the years as well as on pooledbasis. newlineWhile, at 60 DAS treatment T3 (LCC 5, i.e. application of 30 kg N ha-1 basedonLCCcriticalvalue5)recordedsignificantlyhigherplantheight,numberoffunctional leaves plant-1, dry matter production plant-1 and leaf areaindexbut did not differ significantly with treatment T6(CCM 40, i.e. application of30kgNha-1basedonCCMcriticalvalue40)andT7(100%RDNas3splits(2:1:1)atbasal,kneeheightand tasseling stage)inalltheabovesaidcharactersduring boththeyearsaswellasonpooledbasis. newlineWhile, at 90 DAS treatment T3 (LCC 5, i.e. application of 30 kg N ha-1 basedonLCCcriticalvalue5)recordedsignificantlyhigherplantheight,numberoffunctional leaves plant-1, dry matter production plant-1 and leaf areaindexfallowed by the treatment T6(CCM 40, newline
