Synthesis and Characterization of Alkali Doped Bioactive Glasses

Abstract

Borophosphate based bioactive glasses have emerged as promising materials in the field of regenerative medicine due to their unique physicochemical properties and excellent bioactivity. This work presents a comprehensive investigation into the synthesis, characterization, and bioactivity evaluation of alkali doped borophosphate bioactive glasses. Borate and calcium fluoride altered alkali doped bioactive glasses were synthesized using the conventional melt-quenching technique. Structural, optical, morphological and thermal analyses were conducted using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), ultraviolet-visible (UV Vis) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and modulated differential scanning calorimetry (MDSC).
