newlineAn experiment was conducted on Morpho-physiological and
newlinebiochemical traits of red ginger (Alpinia purpurata) under the influence of
newlinepalm oil mill wastes in oil palm ecosystem by Dr.YSRHU-COH,
newlineVenkataramannagudem, in collaboration with ICAR- Indian Institute of Oil Palm
newlineResearch, Pedavegi, Andhra Pradesh during the period from December 2021 to
newlineDecember 2023.The major objectives of the investigation were to study the
newlinemorphological, flowering, physiological and biochemical parameters of red
newlineginger as influenced by palm oil mill wastes and to analyze the interaction of red
newlineginger with oil palm under intercropping system, besides working out economics
newlineof various treatments.
newlineIn experiment I, soil in experimental plot was amended with different
newlinepalm oil mill wastes in red ginger under oil palm ecosystem and their
newlineperformance was evaluated. Rhizomes were planted in inter space of oil palm
newlineplantation and assessment was made for various vegetative, floral, rhizome,
newlinephysiological, biochemical characters, vase life and essential oil content and
newlineeconomics of the treatments. Significantly highest plant height, absolute growth
newlinerate, number of leaves, leaf width, leaf length, leaf area, specific leaf area,
newlinenumber of shoots produced per plant, shoot girth were recorded with application
newlineof 100% RDN through combination of palm oil mill wastes in comparison with
newlineRDF. These treatments were also found best in terms of majority of floral,
newlinephilological and biochemical parameters.
