Abstract
The demand for groundwater resources has drastically increased due to increase population and expansion of agricultural activities. Hence, assessment, planning and management of groundwater resource become crucial and essential phenomena. Remote Sensing and GIS techniques are time and cost effective in estimation and management of groundwater resources. In the present work, geology and geomorphological studies have been carried out for artificial groundwater recharge in Venkatapura Watershed in Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka.
newlineThe geological and geomorphological information, i.e. lithology, structures, landform units and Lu/Lc and their impact on groundwater recharge are studied. The quantification of morphometric parameters is made to understand the basin characteristics in terms of soil, topography and soil condition of the area. The basic, linear, shape and relief parameters are calculated and discussed, with reference to their impact on the hydrological regime
