Abstract
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is considered as the second foremost cause of disease burden in India. COPD are lung conditions caused by airway obstruction, characterized by narrowed airways, reduced bronchial airflow, difficulty in air movement in and out of lungs, hyperinflation causing significant dyspnea. Classical examples of COPD are bronchitis and emphysema. COPD is considered as an important public health problem worldwide due to its high morbidity and mortality. The important causative factor for chronic respiratory diseases is the lifestyle which includes the use of tobacco, physical inactivity, unhealthy diets, lack of exercise and chronic stress. The COPD individuals can be treated using inhaled bronchodilators, antibiotics, mucolytic agents, corticosteroid, oxygen, methylxanthine and adjuvant therapies successfully Pulmonary rehabilitation, a muti-disciplinary, evidence based approach, designed to lessen symptoms, intense participation, optimize the functional status, reducing health care cost through minimizing and stabilizing the individuals from the disease symptoms
