Metabolic Alterations in Preeclampsia

Abstract

Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are quite common and form a one of the newlinecomponent of triad along with hemorrhage and infection. They comprise of a newlinespectrum of disorders typically classified into categories and stratified according to newlineseverity. Out of all these, preeclampsia is the most serious (1). Pregnancy is a newlinephysiological condition in which many changes occur in the interior milieu of the newlinebody and more emphasis is being given on the metabolic and biochemical newlinechanges which occur in the blood during normal pregnancy and becomes newlineexaggerated in complication of pregnancy like preeclampsia (2),(3). newlinePreeclampsia is one of the most common complications of pregnancy which newlineis potentially devastating condition that can threaten the life of both mother and her newlineunborn child. It contributes to one of the top five causes of maternal and fetal newlinemorbidity and mortality (1),(4). Reports from World Health organization (WHO) in newline2000 showed the worldwide pooled incidence of preeclampsia for developing newlinecountries was estimated to be 3.4% and prevalence 9% (5),(4). newline
