By utilizing lasers, Free-Space Optical (FSO) communication newlineprovides high-bandwidth wireless data transmission. However, its link range and newlineperformance are severely restricted by atmospheric conditions including dust, newlinefog, and rain. Techniques are explored in this research to address these newlinechallenges and enhance FSO data rates. The impact of atmospheric turbulence newlineon signal degradation was discussed and methods are proposed to counteract it. newlineAdditionally, advanced modulation formats are explored to improve data newlinecapacity while maintaining signal integrity. Furthermore, the potential of newlineemploying higher-order modes and spatial multiplexing to increase data rates are newlineexamined in this research. By effectively handling atmospheric effects and newlineimplementing advanced technologies, FSO communication can become a robust newlineand high-capacity solution for various applications. newlineThis thesis is divided into three parts of work. The first part of this newlinestudy explores a hybrid Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) - Polarization newlineDivision Multiplexing (PDM) - FSO Communication system. This proposed newlineFSO transmission system to increase the data rate and mitigate atmospheric newlineconditions to increase the link range performs well, reaching an aggregate data newlinerate of 80 Gbps and attaining satisfactory Bit Error Rate (BER) lt10-6. There is newlinean increase in data rate of eight times. In comparison to NRZ (Non Return to newlineZero) and Return to Zero (RZ), Offset Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (OQPSK) newlineis proven to be the best modulation strategy. newline
