Abstract

Human resource and adequate infrastructure are the most critical components of development programmes. Health in particular is very much sensitive to the adequate human resources and infrastructure as it directly linked with life of human beings. After the independence the Government of India has provisioned for the human resources and infrastructure for health along with other community development programmes. Human resource in health has been the prime consideration in all such policy decisions since the quality of work life of medical personnel is also affected by the HRM policies and this in turn affects the service levels in hospitals. newlineEvery organization has its own internal and external environment. Organizational structure and culture is very much responsible for the formation and shaping of the attitude of employees. Medical personnel directly influence patient satisfaction because of their high involvement and interaction with patients regularly, till they are in the hospital. newlineHospitals provide services to their customers through employees with variety of skill sets. People s demands are very different from a hospital. They expect homely atmosphere, emotional support, urgent attention, so on and so forth.
