Good governance is not a matter of chance or by accident. It is a continuing process to work in a goal oriented approach and it must be demanded by citizens and nourished by the state and nation. It is incumbent upon government to provide platform to its people to participate freely, openly and fully in the political process. The citizens must have the right to compete for office, form political parties and associations, free press and independent judiciary are essential components for good governance. Good governance helps to create an environment favourable for sustained economic growth. The major factors that reflect the quality of governance are social justice and equality of rights and opportunities. Idea of good governance is considered as a model to compare the ineffective economics or political bodies, with viable solutions and resources. Concept of good governance is based upon the responsibility of government and its governing institutions to meet the needs and expectations of people, as opposed to the needs of few selected groups in the society. Good governance depends upon existing cultures, historical development of nation, diversities in society, goals of future development, inherent problems and weaknesses, need to be evaluated before good governance can bear its fruit. newline
